Brazosport's Thalia Pina Competes at State Powerlifting Meet

Senior Thalia Pina competed over spring break at the Girl's State Powerlifting Meet. She set personal records on each of her lifts. Her bench press was 210 lbs, her squat was 420 lbs, and her deadlift was 340 lbs. She ended up placing 10th for her weight class with lifting a new personal record total of 970 lbs.

Thalia has been a part of the powerlifting program all 4 years of her high school career. Through her hard work and dedication she has had a very successful journey. Her freshman and sophomore years she made it to regionals and was a state alternate her sophomore year. This is her second consecutive year making it to the state meet. Last year she placed 5th and won the regional meet in her weight class. This year Thalia not only won regionals, but she also set the new regional record for squat at 415 lbs.

Thalia plans on using her powerlifting experience and her love for the sport to pursue a coaching career. Way to Anchor Down Thalia!
